Flap! is taking a little holiday
A little heads-up from the Flap! workshop — I'm taking a six-week break!
The shop will remain open while I'm away, but orders placed during this time will be held and posted when I return at the end of September. Nothing will be dispatched during August and September.
I'm looking forward to a proper break, a bit of adventuring, and returning to the workshop refreshed and ready to make more birds!
Thank you for your patience and for supporting this little one-woman operation. Your order will be safely waiting for me when I get back.

Kia ora, I’m the maker behind Flap! I’m a woodworker, conservation enthusiast and artist based in beautiful Nelson, Aotearoa New Zealand.
My time working with DOC has taken me into some of New Zealand’s most spectacular landscapes and introduced me to its wonderfully characterful creatures. These experiences are at the heart of my designs. Each toy is a little celebration of nature, made to spark delight, curiosity, creativity and, hopefully, a lasting sense of care for the natural world.
I believe play is powerful. The things we love and connect with as children often become the things we value and protect as adults. That’s why I create non-plastic, interactive toys that encourage imaginative play while nurturing a lifelong love of Aotearoa's wild creatures and places.
Every toy, puzzle and flying mobile is designed and handcrafted from start to finish in my home workshop. I use water-based acrylic paints and finish each piece with a food-safe protective coating, creating toys that are made to be played with, enjoyed and treasured.
